...and Google overtakes Yahoo!
Google is back to 8,000,000,000 for the "the" seaarch we talked about yesterday (and the same number for the "a" search).

Something's going on here or what?

Has Yahoo! overtaken Google?
Try a simple a search for the word "the" in both Google and Yahoo! and you will find that Yahoo! lists 3,970,000,000 pages while the equivalent number in Google is 3,820,000,000. (The equivalent search in MSN is just 2,629,442,866 for the moment).

Well, I know that the Front page of Google talks about searching Searching 8,058,044,651 web pages (which was the number that was coming up in the "the search" a few days ago) but I have always been a bit careful with believing this number since it came up overnight and out of the blue a few months ago.
By the way searching for "a" in Google gives 4,030,000,000 while in yahoo! 4,240,000,000.

A Google Update?
There is a rumour about that we will see a change in the Google algorithm within the next month. Even if this is true I do not expect this to be very very spectacular - or at least as spectacular as the November 2003 change - as Google is in a situation at the moment in which they have to watch out their every move.
In any case keep your eye on your SERPs.

Yahoo! 10th Birthday.
Do you remember the days when yahoo! looked like this? That was 10 years ago and so many things have changed since then. Somehow the image of the gray background in the old yahoo has brought so many memories that it is hard to express anything but nostalgia about these innocent years...
Happy Birthday guys...
